.skin tone tool fix

Overview

In response to user complaints about the Skin Tone feature and the limited options available for darker skin tones, it became clear that there was an urgent need to improve the product to accurately reflect the diverse skin tones of all users.

To address this issue, I co-created a document aimed at understanding the full range of skin tones. This project focused on developing an enhanced color palette for our tool, which included not only the addition of more free colors but also ensuring that these colors worked realistically and effectively for users with deeper skin tones.

To guide our improvement efforts, we adopted what we refer to as The Fenty Scale. This scale utilizes the "Pro Filt'r Foundation" tones and models as a foundation, simplifying the project and providing a visual reference that aids in the accurate representation of skin tones.

.horoscope filters

Overview

With a small team and the need to coordinate across multiple departments—including the effects designers, myself, operations, and content managers—we made a bold decision for the AirBrush app: we capitalized on the rising horoscope trend by creating 12 new filters, one for each zodiac sign. This was the app's largest launch to date, and we positioned it as a fully paid filter pack to drive conversions.

To guide the process, I bench-marked the preset industry, analyzing top-grossing styles and aligning them with zodiac elements. To create a narrative the filter styles were separated by the objective and subjective elements of each sign but also by type of filter (daily use, recoloring/aesthetic, etc) and grouped in a way to not be missed by users within the app. The first four filters were especially crafted to attract attention, drawing inspiration from popular presets and top-trending influencer aesthetics.

.in-app model localization guidelines

Overview

To ensure the localization in 6+ languages of the marketing material with a small team, I developed the In-App Model Localization Guidelines for a photo database that provided standards for adapting visuals to ensure cultural relevance and appropriateness for users in different regions. The database itself focused on being a training material for designers and authentic references, including local celebrities for the standard of beauty in each geo.
